Description

The Colnago Profile CX is a very rare model that you can find very little on the Internet. In any case, the bike dates from the early 80s and could be a kind of predecessor to the better-known big brother, the Oval CX. The frame is made of lightweight Columbus SL steel, with the top and bottom tubes being crimped twice to increase rigidity. The soldering part for the front derailleur was deliberately omitted, since this frame was also used for time trial competitions with only one front chainring.

The special red lacquer is called Cromovelato - that's the name of a completely chrome-plated frame which has been coated with a sheer, translucent lacquer layer. This gives this paint its special shine. In addition to the special paint, the indented tubes and the super rare Colnago CX fork, this bike has internally routed shift cables for improved aerodynamics.

Engraved parts such as the Colnago chainring, the 3TTT Colnago stem and the Colnago seat post make the bike visually and technically even more attractive. Even the lightweight shift levers from Modolo Kronos have the Colnago logo printed on them. Other details such as the aerodynamic Concor Profil saddle, rims with 28 spokes or the very early aero brake levers from Modolo Kronos round off the overall package.

The eyelet on the white liner has been deliberately omitted to minimize friction. But that was certainly not what Colnago thought ...
